January 2025

St. Paul

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Happy New Year!

I send my greetings to Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church, and as always; it is a joy to be writing to you this time of the year.  I would like to thank you for all your Christmas generosity.  All your kind words, cheerful cards, and gifts strengthened and uplifted Stephanie and my spirits during the holiday.  We thank God for all of you, and know we are appreciative of all that you do for us.  We hope and pray that your New Year is blessed as God continues to give us his abundant grace.

Happy New Year!  Out with 2024 and in with 2025!  It is a new year!  And it’s an interesting thought to have the feeling every single year that there’s a new start.  Time just keeps going but at these moments in our lives, we get a feeling of a fresh start.  As we start this new year, let’s consider a new start in a different way.  Each day is a new start.  When we wake up in the morning, God has given us another day here on this earth and we can use that as a new start.  The best way to start off on the right foot is in personal reflection with God.  When we get up in the morning, thoughts begin to pour through our mind with all the things we feel we need to accomplish for the day.  Instead, slow down and remember that because you are baptized into Christ, we are starting the day once again forgiven of all our sins so we can start serving God with all we have and all that we are.

This sounds like a whole lot of work… truth is: it’s not a whole lot of work for a Christian. We get to live our lives to the best of our God-given ability and just step back to see how God uses us. There’s nothing you absolutely have to do so the pressure is off completely; such a beautiful thing! Let’s start this New Year off right and start looking at each day as a fresh start in God’s eyes so that we can see our life through a different lens.

January can be a downer-month.  The presents are opened, family has returned home, and perhaps the tree is gone.  All things considered, God is still with us.  This Epiphany may God continue to reveal Himself to you.  And may He always be the light of your life.

In Christ,

Pastor Chris
